Adult Sacraments

  • RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) - A faith formation process for persons not baptized or baptized in another denomination, who are interested in entering into full communion with the Catholic community. The RCIA program begins in the fall, culminates with Baptism/Confirmation at the Easter Vigil and follows through with weekly gatherings until Pentecost. • Marriage and Wedding Guidelines - Weddings at St. Joan of Arc are provided as a service to registered members of our parish community. Because of the large number of weddings it is not possible to provide the services of a presider or our facilities for people who are not registered parishioners. For a wedding to take place at SJA it is necessary that one of the engaged couple be a member of the parish for at least six (6) months before a wedding date can be set. A wedding date may only be scheduled by one of the priests after an initial interview with the engaged couple. A minimum of four (4) months from the time the date is set to the wedding is necessary to complete the requirements. In cases where there has been a previous marriage, it is not possible to set the wedding date until notice of an annulment is in hand. • Annulment Process - The Catholic Church's annulment of a marriage may be pursued once a divorce has been finalized. For some people the thought of remarriage may be a distant one, while for others, more immediate. The annulment process assists in bringing closure to an ended relationship and freely allows for re-marriage within the Church. • Reconciliation - St. Joan of Arc offers a Communal Reconciliation service during Lent and Advent. Private confession times, typically on a Saturday afternoon - before the 5 PM Mass in our Church, may be scheduled by calling the Parish Center at 612.823.8205.
