The delegates from Aug. 2006 will discuss their experience with the Board. Jeff Nohner will present a film from the trip, if possible.
International Ministries Table: Sister Parish will be represented in the church vestibule between the masses by Joel, Katharine, Ross, and Mindy.
Thomas Melville will speak about his book, Through a Glass Darkly, which is about the armed conflict in Guatemala. He will give a presentation at the Resource Center on Oct. 28 at 10:30 am. He will be the speaker before both Masses at SJA on Oct. 29. He will also speak at SJA on Oct 30 in the evening.
Leslie says that several students will participate in the pen pal project. Letters will be written in Spanish and delivered to Alejandro Alfaro when he is here for the Board of Directors Meeting. He will take them to Tierra Nueva II. Leslie will also contact Mark Quinn who teaches in a Spanish immersion public school in order to see if a class would be interested in a pen pal relationship.
Sister Parish wants to share about Rita's mother's illness, the upcoming delegation dates, and themes related to Advent and the seasons. We also considered including photos with the written communication.
We would also like to know how Norma and her baby are doing and if Marlene has had her baby.
Katharine will draft a letter in Spanish and send it via e-mail to TNII and Alejandro and Sergio, too.
Ross would like committee members to volunteer and take ownership of specific committee tasks. He will send out a list of the things we do for people to consider and indicate an interest. We will discuss this further at another meeting.
We may have future discussions with members of the Sister Parish committee from Faith Lutheran in Fargo, ND. Possible topics are joint delegations and working together in the future.
