Meeting Minutes 9/6/00

Sister Parish Committee meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7 pm. in the school. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have questions, please contact any of the members of the committee.

What follows are the minutes of the Wednesday, September 6, 2000 meeting.

Wednesday, September 6, 2000

Present: Louise, Mindy, Jeff, Carol F., Carol K., Margaret, Rick, Bob, Tim, Susan

The bulk of this meeting was spent discussing/planning details of the upcoming delegation. Other minutes first:

We authorized $600 be spent on airfare for Diago, a southern board member who will attend the Board meeting in Seattle in October. We normally purchase a ticket for our own representative. Mindy has volunteered to use her own frequent flyer miles to attend if we pay Diago's airfare.
We decided to add an additional meeting because of the delegation. The next meetings will be Sept. 20, Oct. 4, Oct. 18, and Oct. 25. All at 7 pm and all on Wednesdays.
The Sister Parish bible studies are starting again. The first one is the 1st Thursday of October(5th) at 7 pm. Future meeting dates will be discussed then. Carol Krush(ckrusher@hotmail.com) is the contact person again.
We received a letter from TNII listing the women's group activities. They seem to be very busy. They are meeting once a week discussion such topics as Sex Ed in the Family, Relaxation Therapy, and Self-Esteem. Louise mentioned that on her recent visit there she noticed an increased role of women in the church as well as in their committee.
Louise brought back 2 men's embroidered vests that were made and given to us by members of the TNII community. We decided to ask Cabaret if they would be willing to use them as door prizes or raffle items the night TNII attends. Jeff will ask Paul Hempe(editorial note: Jeff has misplaced Paul's email. Can someone send it to jeff)
Bob asked for and received approval to renew our memberships in the GHRC and Resource Center. The cost is $100 each.

Delegation info:

Jeff will ask his SJA webreporter and photographer volunteers to get involved reporting the delegation visit. He will try to get one volunteer per day to travel along with the delegation to report to him on that day's events. If he can not get enough for each day, he will ask committee members to help with the reporting and photography of the daily events.

Susan had butcher papered out a rough sketch of the schedule. Latest version has:

Fri, 27th :Delegation arriving??
Sat, 28th: Candle assembly in morning, Amie Leeches wedding at SJA in aft followed by reception and masquerade dance.
Sun, 29th: Mass and Candle sale, Afternoon at Pumpkin Patch and Apple Farm(Aamodt's?)
Mon, 30th: Very open day. School visits are listed tentatively.
Tues, 31st: Lunch with SJA staff, evening Halloween party and Tim and Mary Beth's with pumpkin carving
Wed, 1st: Project for Pride in Living with Joe Salvaggio in aft., evening dinner at his house for delegates.
Thurs, 2nd: All Saints Prayer Service, Evening Bible Study with our group
Fri, 3rd: Holy Rosary visit(esp. women), Cabaret?
Sat, 4th: Committees meet, Cabaret?, prepare for homily
Sun, 5th: Welcome, readings, and homily(possible music including Efrain)

Host families are pretty well determined with each family taking ½ of the week. We still need translators and other volunteers.

Last weeks minutes contained a misstatement. TNII asked for our expectations of the delegation, not of our future relationship as reported.

We will be renting a van again.

Since TNII is bringing a shipment of candles with them on the 27th (?), we will need to really mobilize to decorate/organize them on Saturday the 28th. Please try to keep that date open(as of now we are thinking late morning). We are going to try to get all of the cards ready before that date so we can concentrate on the candles on the 28th. Tim volunteered Mary Beth to head up the sale again.
