Present: Louise, Mindy, Alex, Bob and Jean, Carol F., Carol K., Margaret, Rick, Bob, Tim, Susan, Vickie, Mark, Miguel, and newcomers Julie Madden, Steven Peer, Katie Keating, Barb Johnson, Dorothy Irvin, and Trina Kuriger

There were so many attendees at tonites meeting, we used nametags!! What wonderful turnout.

Susan reviewed the latest version of the delegation schedule for Friday October 27 through Monday November 6. All of you on this mailing list were sent the updated schedule on the 29th after the changes from this meeting. If you need that updated schedule sent to you again, email jeff at rhollj@bitstream.net.

We still need readers for the 9 and 11 masses on the 5th of Nov. If you are interested contact Louise(eidsmoel@aol.com). We also need a welcome giver for the 9 am mass. Margaret will be available the week of the delegation as she is being paid by SJA to help with the youth.

Host families for the adults have been decided. SJA youth and Margaret will handle the host families for the youth delegates. All adult delegates will get a chance to stay on both the Mpls and St Paul sides of the river. The men will be with Tika Hansen and her husband from Friday to Wednesday and with Mark and Molly from Wednesday to Monday. The women will be with Tim y Mari from Friday to Wednesday and with Vickie from Wednesday to Monday.

Bob volunteered to be the chauffeur of the 15-passenger van we have rented from Sunday to Sunday. Susan reports that she received lots of response for translators during the delegation. She will communicate with all and set up a schedule.

The person of the day will be in charge of handling logistics each day. They are as follows: 27th- no one; 28th-Katie, Trina, Marie; 29th-Vickie, Dorothy; 30th-Tica, Mindy, Alex; 31st-Julie, Trina, Louise; 1st-Carol, Decklynn; 2nd-Mark, Marie; 3rd-Susan, Trina; 4th-Louise; 5th-Decklynn, Margaret. Jeff will try to get different members of the SJA WebReporting team to join the delegation on each day to cover the events for the webpage. This is an attempt to expose more parishioners to Sister Parish. If a WebReporter is not available on a given day, he will ask for a report from the person of the day that evening via email. The goal is to have a summary of each day with images up on the website before Jeff goes to bed each nite.

The Thursday pm Bible study and the November 5th homily is to be adults only. The homily will be a dialogue between a member of the SJA bible study group and a member of the TNII bible study group. The dialogue will center on reactions to the readings discussed in Thursday nights study. The reading is on love, the greatest commandment. Saturday will be a dress rehearsal and much of it will be scripted ahead after the Thursday nite session.

Barb Johnson from the Office of Congressmen Bruce Vento talked on non-immigrant visas. A letter was faxed from Bob and Barb to Guatemala explaining that a beneficiary of a visa must bring verification of strong ties to their homeland. For a youth, like Rosa from Honduras(?), this is difficult. No spouse, no property, no family. The decision is very subjective. Jason Donovan of the US Embassy in Guatemala called today to say he received Vento's letter advocating for the visas. He said they "will give it every consideration under the law". On October 3rd, the delegates will all come in together to apply for visas. The fee is $45 per person and Jackie and Ruth will accompany them. They will try to use the same officer Jackie has had in the past.

Sunday, October 22nd between masses is the tentative date for host family and translator orientation. Location to be determined.

A second grade teacher at SJA wants her class to develop pen pals with 2nd graders in TNII. Louise will coordinate this with help from Carol F. who will soon go to Guatemala and visit TNII.

New member, Steve Peer, took some pictures during a recent visit to TNII with Joe Salvaggio. He has some nice shots of the church, which he was going to send to Jeff to post on the webpage. Note: He sent them, but Jeff could not receive them and needs to contact Steve for retransmission. If anyone knows how to contact Steve, let Jeff know at rhollj@bitstream.net.
