through a Community Ed class this past Spring. Tristara
expressed interest in teaching a Saturday morning class. Karen
will contact Julie Madden to organize the Spanish class for
Fall. Timeframe for class about 6 weeks i.e. end of September
thru November.
Budget
Budget proposed by Joel was passed around. Louise mentioned the
funds need to be spent down. Some of the money is going to be
earmarked for the delegation next year. Louise is going to
forward the proposed budget to George and Peter Eichden.
Candles
Candles are going to be sold again this year. It was suggested
that pillar candles be made/sold in addition to the tall
candles. It was suggested to put three purple and one pink tall
candle in bunches to be sold for advent wreaths. Louise is
going to look into what size and colors of candles can be
made.
Books
Sister Parish books have been placed in the Parish Center
Library. People interested in taking these books out of the
library can be done on an honor system.
Delegation Update
Lisa talked about the youth group going to Guatemala August
16-26, 2002. It is being suggested that the group consist of 2
adult females, 1 adult male and 8 students, We need to find out
what size group is appropriate so that lodging, transportation,
etc. can all be arranged accordingly. Lisa is going to talk
with Jackie about the details. Estimated cost according to
Louise is $875 which (includes lodging, meals and
transportation) plus the cost of airfare.
Lisa would like to have a "cultural night" be part of the orientation for the delegation in addition to other training/educating. This would include the adult delegation. The adult delegation (consisting of a group size of eight) is tentatively scheduled to go in June 2002. It was suggested that 1/2 the group consist of Sister Parish members and the rest parish members. A major agenda items for next meeting will be the adult delegation. New members welcome!
