What follows are the minutes of the Wednesday, May 2, 2001 meetings.

Wednesday, May 2, 2001

Present: Bob, Rick, Mindy, Louise, Alex

If you are interested in political news surrounding our friends to the south, send Bob Heberle an email at Jean.A.Heberle-3@tc.umn.edu.

Karen Dalebroux has graciously agreed to take minutes and act as secretary replacing Jeff starting in June.

Our viewing of Los Rumbeleros at the Great History Theatre will be Sunday, May 13.

A quilt depicting disappearances in Central America sponsored by Las Madres of MN is in a home in Minneapolis. The committee discussed sponsoring the quilt at SJA for a free will offering in the fall as part of a Sister Parish Open House. There is also a new art exhibit by imprisoned women. Mindy purchased a poster of the quilt and inquires whether or not the committee would like to buy it and offer it to the church for the Parish Centers wall space.

Candle Sale 2001. The few candle holders sold very quickly last year and perhaps more of these could be added as well as other items if there are additional ideas. One idea was a four advent candle ring for use with the advent colors of blue and pink.

A coordinator is needed for the pending adult delegation scheduled for summer 2002. Trina, are you still interested in serving in this capacity? Lisa will plan the youth delegation but will coordinate with the adult group liason. Mindy agreed to help with orientation of both groups.

Summer Meeting Schedule:

The committee approved a donation of $100 to the Resource Center of the Americas for the year 2001. Nancy Logan will be asked to forward this.

Bob suggested a possible expansion of the English program in TNII. He suggested an extended stay with a family of a committee member or parishioner after completing a period of study. There is a need for people to translate our minutes into Spanish for TNII. This has fallen off lately.

A celebration was held by the SP Inc. board last weekend honoring Vicky Schmidt and Dick Fenske. The committee donated a poster to sell at the silent auction. We would like to publicly thank Vicky and Dick for their years of service.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 16th 7 pm in the Sunflower Room
