Editor's note: Today was a "down day" for the delegates. One of the resounding criticisms of past delegations in both directions is a lack of down time. Both North/South and South/North delegations are often overwhelmed with planned activities in addition to cultural adjustments. Today was primarily spent with host families where each delegate could determine their own level of activity. The one group activity was an important joint TNII/SJA committee meeting in the morning. Many important topics were discussed and decisions made. When we get the minutes of this meeting, we will link them off of this page. For now, an image from the meeting and a few words from SJA Sister Parish chair, Louise Eidsmoe.

The sun shined on us all day today and blessed us in many ways. Finally we (this always meaning both the SJA and TNII participants) were able to get together again to talk about why we want to be together and to talk about ideas to increase our ties and collaborative activities. We spent a very long time from 10 am to about 1:15 PM, way past the "schedule" to get into all that we wanted to share and then some. We made some decisions on some projects that will be funded this year and left some others to TNII to get more details worked out before we make any final decisions. See the minutes of this meeting for more details.

Marlen(left) and Addy
I left the meeting feeling that we all know each other so much better. Hopefully our communication will continue to improve. As the person of the day, with my dictionary in hand, I helped Addy and Marlen get some final shopping done at K Mart. Everyone else went off to enjoy the afternoon and evening with their host families.
Louise Eidsmoe is chairperson of the Sister Parish Committee and works for the Wilder Foundation.
