Sister Parish Committee meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7 pm. in the school. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have questions, please contact any of the members of the committee.

What follows are the minutes of the Wednesday, March 7, 2001 meetings.

Wednesday, March 7, 2001

Present: Mindy, Alex, Louise, Joel, Rick, Mark, Michael Hayes

Teacher's hours for Spanish lessons have been reduced as the teachers have conflicts with the after class activity time. The same $600/teacher fee will be paid. Louise was concerned that the committee still wanted to support this. They still have prep time, copy time, etc. Joel will ask the class if they'd like to start the class earlier(9 am?) so that the instructors could join them for the activity. We agreed to pay $600/teacher and $200 for the dance teacher. The fees for the class members are $60($70 including dance lessons). We will charge $10 for non-students to do the dance lessons only.

A possible adult delegation is in the works for summer or fall. Some in the Spanish classes are interested. An informational meeting will be set to explore the interest level after both masses on April 22nd. There was discussion about providing a handout so people could have something to think about.

We discussed ideas for the alfombra design. Ideas included land reform, hermanamiento, children/women, a tapestry, where are the peace accords, and other themes.

Two parishioners would like to do a service project for our Sister Parish involving their 10-12 year old children. Their ideas include buying books to donate to TNII, helping with the alfombra, joining the dance classes, and starting a "project clean out your desk" where this years school student would donate their leftover school supplies at the end of this school year.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, March 21st 7 pm in the school classroom #104(Come at 6 pm for the soup supper)
