Meeting Minutes 2/16/00

Sister Parish Committee meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7 pm. in the school. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have questions, please contact any of the members of the committee.

What follows are the minutes of the Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000 meeting.

Margaret will be in Guatemala from April 24th to May 28th at a language school in Antigua. Anyone wishing to send letters and small items should contact her.

Reminder of the Lenten Discussion Group starting March 15th and running for 5 Wednesdays. Study Guides will help Louise and Rick lead discussion on "Refusing to Forget" from the REMHI project and "Economic Way of the Cross". The discussion will follow the prayer service on these Soup Supper nites. Contact Louise at 651.645.6821 or email at eidsmoel@aol.com if interested.

Joel reported that our current balance is $12,533.77. Some of this will be needed for the fall delegation, but there was a general feeling that we need to encourage TNII to continue on with spending on projects.

Dick Fenske's book, "In The Good Struggle", is now in its second printing. We may want to order some to use as educational materials for future delegations. It was decided to purchase 10 as well as an English/Spanish dictionary for the Bible Study Group.

Rick announced that a design for the alfombra will be needed by April 1st. He is going to solicit ideas from TNII. One suggestion thus far has been a theme of "Nunca Mas".

Kudos were given to Susan Sell for sending the last minutes to TNII in Spanish. She and Carol(who switches off with Susan) were given credit for increasing our level of communication with TNII.

A camping retreat is still planned for May or June, but Joel had no further information.

Delegation dates are still unclear. We wait word from TNII and Jackie on our proposal.

Louise announced that we will break from meetings after the next meeting(March 1) to spend our Wednesdays in the Discussion Forum. Any urgent business done during the soup supper each nite. We will have one more regular meeting on March 1st.
