Sister Parish Committee meetings are held the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 7 pm. in the Parish Center. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have questions, please contact any of the members of the committee.
What follows are the minutes of the Thursday, February 14th, 1999 meeting.
Thursday, Feb. 14

Present: Margaret Bonnert (St. Joan's Youth director), Courtney Istre (student at South High), Louise, Rick, & Joel
The Holy Week delegation has been canceled due to not enough delegates. We ended up with 4 delegates at crunch time. Chris and Louise plan to talk to all who were interested in going(15 or so) and try to see what dates would work for them in the future.
Margaret has twelve youths interested in a trip to Guatemala. The trips departure would need to be after June 23?? to fit student's schedules. Margaret is thinking of 8 youth and 3 adults and wants the trip to be service oriented. Louise will work with Jackie on an itinerary to present at the next meeting. Marge wants the dates, itinerary, and cost set by March 2nd so that she can get an announcement in the youth newsletter. We are looking at a committment date of April 15th. A March 28th meeting was scheduled at 12:30 (after the 11:00 a.m.) Mass in the Parish Center. Margaret will show a TNII video to the youths before the scheduled meeting.
Book money--Katie Johnson has a $200 budget to suggest bi-lingual books for both SJA and TNII. The purpose it to use the books as a spring-board to build dialog and build relationships with the young people.
Mission Sunday: Fr. George wants to again designate TNII as our Mission Sunday recipient. He'd like a speaker for sometime in early August to give the talk. We discussed how we might use funds raised from Mission Sunday. This needs more input. One idea is to have one of the youths and one of the adults that travel to Guatemala this summer to give a talk about their experience at the two Masses.
The new members Info packet that Vickie Hempe passed out a few weeks ago needs feed back from everyone who has a copy of it.
Joel read Jackie and Walters want list for the Sister Parish Center. We discussed what to have Youths take with them on their summer trip. Tools and bedding are among things we could collect for them.
Rick will get a request
in the Bulletin to solicit design ideas and helpers for the
upcoming Alfombra.
Who has the video, "Approach of Dawn?" Would everyone with
videos get them back to SP Committee please. Thank you.
