Sister Parish Committee meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7 pm. in the school. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have questions, please contact any of the members of the committee.

What follows are the minutes of the Wednesday, October 11th and 18th, 2000 meetings.

Wednesday, October 11, 2000

Present: Louise, Margaret, Jeff, Steve, Katie K., Joel, Susan, Mary Beth, Tim, Mark, Rick, Joel, Liz Lehman, Mindy, Carol K.

Margaret reports that she will order SJA sweatshirts for the delegates and Ruth. The committee approved this expense.

Margaret reported that the youth delegates will visit the 4th-6th graders on Sunday the 29th. Adults will be selling candles with our committee.

Susan reported that Aimee has invited 15 people to her reception/dance. All are invited to the afternoon wedding. Those places have been assigned to the 9 from Guatemala plus a few committee members. The issue of alcohol was brought up. Louise will email Ruth telling her that we will support her in her attempt to limit/eliminate drinking during the delegation. We approved a Guatemalan wall hanging as a wedding gift to Aimee from our committee. TNII will also be bringing a wedding gift.

The host family orientation meeting will be at 10 am on Sunday, Oct. 22 at the parish house on 4525 Clinton.

Wednesday, October 18, 2000

Joel distributed an updated Committee and others mailing list. Additions were made.

Carol spoke about the homily planning. 4 adults from TNII will meet with the SJA group on Thursday Nov. 2 at 7 pm at her house to plan the homily as a reaction to the gospel of Mark 12. The SJA bible study group sent some questions to TNII to think about and discuss and possibly use a structure for the homily.

The next meeting (Oct. 25) will include stuffing of cards and possibly retying candles. On Saturday morning at 10 am in the Egan room, the candles TNII is bringing will be tied etc. Please try to attend. We will need many hands. The 4 adults from TNII will help sell candles on Sunday. Other volunteers will be needed. Tim is coordinating a schedule of sellers.
