Mission:

-To provide fully trained Eucharistic Ministers who act in accordance with the standards and policies of Hennepin County Medical Center
-To provide access to those who request Communion
-To provide a caring presence and a listening ear without judgment or any attempt to counsel
-To be fully aware of the cultural differences represented in the patient population and to treat each staff person and patient with sensitivity and respect
-To observe the essence of the hippocratic oath which exhorts us to "do no harm"

St. Joan of Arc Requirements
  1. Interview Process
    • Fr. Jim Debruycker
    • FMS Coordinator
  2. Commitment of hours per week or month to visit the sick at HCMC
  3. Commitment to the Mission Statement and Practices of the Eucharistic Ministers Program
  4. Completion of the SJA Eucharistic Ministers Training
  5. Recommendation by Fr. Debruycker to the Chancery
  6. Completion of the Service League Volunteer Requirements at HCMC
  7. Compliance with recommendations provided by Fr. Debruycker and the HCMC Chaplaincy

Service League Volunteer Requirements
  1. Wear Volunteers photo ID badge
  2. Health Screening at the Employee Health Service
  3. Participation at HCMC Volunteer Orientation Program
  4. $15.00 deposit for volunteer vest
  5. Scheduled assignment, # to call if you will be absent
  6. Follow the uniform and dress code
  7. Agree to background checks
  8. Complimentary parking or bus reimbursement
  9. Compliance with safety, security and infection control practices
