Was led by Mark. All read mission statement.
- Approval of Minutes: March meeting Minutes were approved. Jerry agreed to do the minutes.
- Old Business:
- Appreciative Inquiry Report (Jim D/Pete) - Summarized religious ed info in the Sunday Bulletin. About 60 people very effectively interviewed. Two revelations: One, more intergenerational programs desired. Two, parents and kids want to know what it means to be Catholic. Report to help plan and establish improved religious ed program.
- New Business:
- Liaison Reports (substantive reporting)
- Norine (Personnel Board) - Received 16 applications for Youth Director position. Hiring process established. Appeal for new Board members resulted in adding 5. Staff evaluation form completed. Action: Noreen bring form to next PC Meeting. A Family Education Director position may be considered along with the proposed Communication Director position.
- Pat/Jim D (Liturgy) - Lenten Programs and Holy Week went exceedingly well. Looking at Word and Eucharist worship spaces for greater separation.
- Jean (Peace and Justice) - Several programs further strengthening community connections.
- Mark/Pete (Space Use) - LHB made a third architectural study presentation. Excellent work. Ground level sketches reviewed. An all-ground-level addition might include new gathering spaces, perhaps 6+classrooms and several other features to meet code, and serve the community better. This is just early architectural feasibility work before we begin a "space needs assessment".
- Mark (Avian Flu Pandemic Preparedness) - Cooperation with several religious communities and some big local businesses is evolving. Hope to add some SJAers to our working group
- Ray/Pete (Finance) - Planned giving workshop tonight. Will mail info for APP (automatic payment plan) in July. "Red giving cards" in collection basket work well. APP is best strategy to lift income. Need to lift income to sustain all present programs.
- Jerry/Jim D (Communications) - March 29 meeting with archdiocese representative went well. Website reporting review process establish and working.
- Jerry (Pastoral Ministries) - 12 Befrienders busy. 8 more in training, to be completed this weekend.
- PC Membership Mark Abelin is resigning after 5 years serving (Thanks mark for your excellent service!!!) Thus, we have 2 positions to fill at the May 10 Discernment. Action: Submit candidate names to Pete. After serving 2 years as Chair, Vicki suggested others consider this position.
- Pastor’s Report See Liturgy and Communications. A video describing a new potential program, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, was reviewed. Some discussion. Action: Jean agreed to further pursue this opportunity with the Peace and Justice Committee.
- Goal Setting Process Several members offered proposed goals. The proposed goals were similar to the 06/07 goals, except a new financial goal. Further discussion postponed due to lack of time.
Meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM.
Next meeting is May 3, 2007, 5 pm in the Upper Room
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Hartlaub
