
February 1st, 2007
Members Present: Vicki Underland-Rosow, Pat Murphy, Jean Chagnon, Jerry Hartlaub, Mark Abeln, Mike McClosky, Christopher Hermann, Peter Eichten, Marc Bromaghim-Oropeza, Jim Cassidy, Jim DeBruycker.
- Opening Prayer:
Was led by Marc. All read mission statement.
- Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the Jan. meeting were approved. There were several additions to the agenda.
- New Business:
- Liaison Reports: Jean, Mark, Christopher, Pat, Marc, and Mike all had reports. Highlights: All areas doing well, Youth Steering Committee meetings were very good with Elaine Gaston as facilitator and youth vision statement created. “Dangerous Stories” is the theme for Lent
- Pastor's Report: Jim is working with Jerry and Jeff Rholl to have more control over web site. Finance and Personnel Committees are looking at possibility of hiring a communications director. Feb. 11 there will be a new arrangement in the gym.
- Space Use Update: Contract with LHB has been signed. Next action item is finding out from LHB what is possible from a zoning perspective and from a construction perspective. Committee will also meet with Hal Johnson to help in creating parishioner involvement.
Council created a sub-committee to investigate ways SJA can work with the new school.
- Theology and Language: Lengthily discussion on how language can be either hospitable or inhospitable and how SJA can work on become more hospitable. Vicki will put together a document on shame for the Council to read and Jean will create discussion questions for the next meeting.
- Goal Setting Process: Goal forms from the various areas of parish life should be into Peter by March 1.
- Strategic Plan:
Council felt Space Use is like a strategic plan and that doing both wasn’t realistic. Strategic plan tabled until May or June.
- SJA Email:
there have been problems, and Jeff Rholl is helping to solve these issues.
- Closing Prayer: was led by Marc.
