Was read by JH
- Approval of Minutes: Minutes from October mtg distributed and approved.
- New Business :
- Liaison Reports:
- Timeline is set to advertise for Youth Minister position before contract time.
Administration is reviewing a proposal for new employee evaluation pgm.
- Youth Council evaluation of this year’s program and transition is heavily influenced by the lack of space for Youth programs.
- Encouraged council members to participate in events during Homelessness and Hunger week, November 12-19.
- Liturgy Committee had a good meeting with Vicki Klima, liturgy coordinator from the Chancery. Will try a new setup for gym liturgy with a central altar and pulpit over Thanksgiving weekend. The next followup mtg will be with Sr. Dominica on governance attended by JD, JC, VUR, NL PE. This process is such a good model, it would benefit all parishes if they could meet with the Chancery this way. We need to better communicate our successes-- get a web reporter and post a web article immediately, ex: we collected a third of the coats in the WHWH program, we had 15% of the volunteers for Feed My Starving Children in Darfur. Bring along SJA’s key characteristics to these mtgs. By January all the small groups will have met and reconvened in large group, and then Jim will write an article for the web. We need to clearly communicate in the next weeks that the experiment in the gym setup over Thanksgiving weekend is our idea, it was not a mandate, we need to prepare people so they don’t feel so anxious when we try to “rearrange the living room”.
- Pastor's Report: The Picture Directory is going very well and 2 weeks were added to the schedule. 1,000 families are scheduled--about 20% participation. 8-15% is considered a success. Lots of great help from the parish to make this happen. Directories will be delivered the 2nd week of February. A postcard was sent to all parishioners giving the option to not be listed in the directory, but have not determined how to followup on those returned due to incorrect addresses.
- Cabaret was a success
- A new committee (VUR, PM, JC, PE, MM) will be formed to set guidelines for establishing a “sister parish”, that will be proposed to the Ministries International group and then to Parish Council.
- Our Fund Raising Policy contains terminology that needs to be clarified.
- Old Business :
A Task Force will assess our space needs and how to use the school building. Pete Knaeble has agreed to chair. Other members include Marie Manthey, a youth, Jerry Hartlaub, Jim DeBruycker. Several other nominations are pending.
- Announcements: The Memorial Garden is complete. The first burial, Fr. Harvey Egan, is this Sunday following the 11:00 mass, followed by Bruce Whelan on Monday. Doug Lohman will dig holes with a post hole digger. The first layer will be 36” deep, then it circles back to the beginning for the next layer for a total of three layers; capacity is 4,500.
- Agenda Additions:
- Jerry brought copies of the Parish Council picture for the directory.
- A “welcome” card for the vestibules has been designed by Christopher. It includes our mission statement, Parish Council goals and key characteristics. Communications Committee will review. Kinkos is least cost to make copies.
- JH led a closing prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
Next meeting is December 7, 2006, 6:30pm in the Upper Room
Respectfully submitted,
Cl, recorder
