Pentecost celebrates the spirit of God blowing through our entire church and all of God’s people…everywhere! It calls us to “go forth” and speak truth and carry on the work of the spirit through the example of our brother, Jesus... with courage and great joy. A year ago, we were privileged to hear the voice of prayer through an ancient practice of the Buddhist monks from Tibet. They voiced the spirit in a new way for all of us and helped us see the wideness of God’s grace in the world. These monks and the Tibetan people have been under siege since the takeover by China and their holy voices are being silenced one by one. | | | Anna Vagle is director of Music and Liturgy at St. Joan of Arc.

Therefore, on Pentecost Sunday, May 11th, we will focus on the voices of those who have been silenced…whose spirits are being crushed and lift up, especially the Tibetan people in our prayers. A group of children from Minnesota’s Tibetan community will be with us to sing and release our spirits. Let us celebrate together the gift of the spirit and recommit ourselves to being the body and “voice” of Jesus in the world.
