SJA's Messages to Sami and Iraq

Editor's Note: In January, a call went out to the parish to send messages of hope and peace to Sami Rasouli, SJA parishioner and friend, who left his successful business in Minnesota to go help his countrymen in Iraq. To the people who call Iraq their home: I and my family wish you a life of peace and prosperity. Our hearts are with you in your journey through life. Sharon Frees

Dear Sami: I hope you are safe. I think of you often and wonder if Najaf (your town?) is safe. Please know our prayers and thoughts are with you. Tell your friends, most Americans are against U.S. interference in your lives. Bless you.

Even though we are miles apart you are in our thoughts and in our hearts. Please know we are praying for you and we hope for peace throughout your country.

Please know that there are many many people in the United States who do not agree with the decisions our President and his administration have made and are against the war. We know you love your children as we love ours. We know you only seek peace and happiness as we do. Please keep the faith. Also know that many of us respect all religions.

Dear Sami: I think every day of you and your people and pray that the time will come when the Iraqi people. Will be able to choose their own destiny and live in peace. We will continue our work here to end the occupation and to change the agenda of the current administration from empire building to relationship building. Love and best wishes, Marie Braun
