What Can You Find on Our Website?
The St. Joan of Arc website, www.stjoan.com, is entering it's 3rd year as a community based website. It is now a "big website" with the volume equivalent to that of a very large book. We now have over 800 pages of information on our website. Many other pages have been deleted as they become outdated in information. StJoan.Com is now in it's adulthood as a community information source for parishioners and those with an interest in our goings on.
A large website can sometimes be difficult to navigate. The purpose of this update is to highlight what is currently available at stjoan.com that is of most interest to visitors. These are the sections of the website that receive the most interest and visits:
- Events in Review- Our team of webreporters and webphotographers attend and report on many of our parish events. You can find them listed in reverse chronological order on this page. Past year's stories are archived for eternity and can be accessed from links on this page. We have reported on over 100 parish events this year. Note: We do not have enough reporters to cover every event but would love to have more. See this link for details.
- Feature Stories- Our team of webreporters and photographers also seeks out non-event stories that are of interest to the parish. These are stories about programs and people that impact our community. We average about one or two new features a week. If you have an idea for a feature that would interest our parish email our webmaster.
- Sunday Bulletin- This electronic version of the standard staple of parish communication is very helpful to parishioners who miss a given Sunday. It is also being used to check back on an forgotten item as we archive the most recent 4 weeks. A nice feature of the online version is clickable daily scripture readings.
- Calendar- Many parishioners use the online calendar to look ahead to upcoming events and meetings as well as remind themselves of the time/place of that meetings they know they have coming up.
- Sunday Mass Audio/Video- A page of links to Sunday homilies/readings and selected songs of each weeks Sunday Masses. These clips are available the Monday after Mass and are archived for 4 weeks. Listening to the homilies if you are gone for a Sunday or to catch a point that you missed the first time is very helpful.
- Sunday Readings- Seeing the thoughtful and challenging readings in print is a very popular feature of the website. Often parishioners are impressed by a given first reading that they want to send to a friend or print out for their own use.
- Contact Us- Many parishioners use the online Comment Form to contact staff or the webmaster and ask questions or voice concerns. This form is a good way to get an answer or state an opinion.
- Online Registration- You can register for most events and programs that require registration online. We hope to soon have a secure credit card transaction feature that will allow you to also pay for those that require payment.
- Online Contributions- This link is a secure online way to contribute to St Joan of Arc.
- Shared Ministry Signup- The parish hands out paper Shared Ministry(volunteer) forms once or twice a year. This online version of the same paper allows parishioners to sign up anytime during the year.
- Staff Directory- bios and email addresses of all SJA staff members.
- Parish Council Site- Monthly parish council minutes give insight into the workings of the parish.
- Upcoming Homilist- Short bios of this week's homilist. Previous homilist is archived for one week.
- Music and Sunday Mass- Future musicians and homilists are announced weeks in advance.
- Sister Parish Homepage- extensive history of our hermanamiento with Tierra Nueva Dos, Guatemala.
- Eco-Spirituality Homepage- chronicles the work of our Eco-Spirituality Committee.
All of the above sections plus many more can be found linked off of the narrow green navigation column to the left. In addition, if you just can find something, try the Search function at the top and bottom of the green navigation column. (**Hint: If the subject you type into the search field is more than one word, enclose it in "quotes".) |
