Pageant of All Creation
...A Celebration of Earth and all of her kids.

Saturday 13th of May was a cold rainy day. It was in slow motion fashion that I extracted myself from the warmth of my covers to make the journey to St. Joan's and the The Pageant of All Creation : A Celebration of Earth and all of her kids.

I braved the blustery weather, collected my sister and niece and off we went. We arrived in the gym where about 20 other adventurous souls looked to the enthusiam and energy of Rachel Kroog and Maria Genne to kick of the celebration.

That they did with a beautiful opening song and ritual that honored the earth and its elements. We were then set loose to the arts activities: creating mandalas- signs celebrating our love of the earth, working with clay, and planting marigolds into newly decorated pots (a timely craft for mother's day). It was good to recapture a bit of my childlike wonder as I colored and sculpted with my niece.

Michael Monroe then turned up the celebration with his heartfelt and lively music. Until most everyone was up dancing, scampering and chasing those clouds away.

Games and a parade followed, but alas we had to bow out early as my sister did not feel well(or in the opinion of my niece 7-year-old Trina's was overwhelmed by joy.) It was a simple event that had the feel of an intimate arts/dance party with friends and filled St. Joan's to the rafters with joy.

So, next time I am confronted with a blustery Saturday morning, I will bound out of bed, dance a bit, create a bit, and be reminded that the earth is to be celebrated in all weather.
