Choir Picnic 2000

Friday, June 2nd

Can you recall the Walt Disney animation scene of crows crooning on a telephone wire? Well, picture that scene at the Annual Choir Picnic on Friday night, June 2nd. It was lively and we had a GREAT time, singing and dancing the night away. Historical recollection suggests this was an attendance breaker, with at least 3/4 of the choir there. Everyone contributed to a pot luck feast ranging with a variety that included the likes of spring mix green salads to chocolate rhubarb desserts. All the food was to die for! Roger Dick even provided a traditional "Timbala" Pasta cake with a "Big Night Theme - To Eat Good Food Is To Be Close To God". Roger also brought an extra "deluxe" Weber grill, which we were grateful for.

The picnic was graciously hosted by Irving and Charley Bloss. It was a perfect backyard evening, complete with a gazebo! Then, with the accompaniment of Piano Man Joe Chouinard, we danced on the driveway and sang "Oldies but Goodies" under the stars. Even some neighbors joined in.

The night gave us a good opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the people in the other choir sections we don't rub elbows with during the year. Although names and faces look familiar, we don't always get the chance to introduce ourselves and chat. You see, during choir practice we DO diligently practice!!!

The party is traditionally upstaged with an "Awards" ceremony. As with any group, there comes a need to pause and reflect on the make up of such a congregation....and we did. Tooting horns and blowing whistles, we congratulated the following people:

The evening proved to be a success bringing a satisfying close to the choir season. Everyone agreed this choir year was the best yet. Each year seems to bring more enjoyment and greater dedication to participate in this community effort. We get so much out of it and thoroughly treasure everyone's company. And, with Anna's leadership, look forward to more diverse pieces of work in the coming year!

Peg LaSota is interested in the biographies of parishioners... any suggestions?? She also loves studying piano, recorder, Spanish, and of course...singing in the choir!
