Cuba Day

Hola! What a day we had today as we visited our friends in Cuba. In the Gathering Place we saw a short 15 min. movie about a 14 year old boy showing us his home in Havanna, Cuba.

We made beautiful clay pots with sea shells today. Don't forget to pick these up tomorrow. The Cuban black beans & rice and tortillas were a huge hit in the food center. Most were asking for thirds! For games we played the national sport Cuba is famous for. Can your child tell you what it was?

The focus for Nature center was, "Are you my mother?" Children learned to identify the adult and infant of many animals and insects. We also had a lovely cuban book for story time.

Many children have been asking about their tie dye shirts. They're so anxious! I explained it is a slow process and the shirts must sit for at least 2 days to set the dye, but oh, they sure are looking good! Don't forget to pick them up when you come tomorrow for the family picnic. Activities start at 9:00 am as usual in the church followed by a short volunteer recognition and then great music by the always popular, Rachael Kroog. The food will be served from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer. Please check-in at the kitchen if you have some time to help. Thanks!
