...The Trials and Tribulations(but mostly Joys!)
of Team Oz

Day 1, Monday
From St. Paul to Wabasha(93.3 miles)

We have finally heard from Team Oz. It appears that they had trouble getting a phone line out Monday night. This page contains pictures from Monday's ride and encampment. The text from Monday is combined with Tuesday(Day 2). It appears that communicating with us is more than we bargained for. I have included Edie's note to me below as it describes a bit of her struggle.

We are in Sparta tonight(Tuesday), and I was allowed to use the AIDS Ride mobile communications web connection here, thank God it worked! As for text to go with pictures for the web daily updates, they will be brief. I finished riding tonight(Tuesday) at 7:40! Then I have to unload gear, eat and shower. I worked from after 9pm to after 11pm last night trying to get through. The communications folks with the AIDS Ride also had problems with the internet connection from there(Wabasha). Sorry about that. Hopefully Wisconsin phone lines will be kinder! So here goes on updates for the first two days. I've downloaded pictures from Monday, not Tuesday yet, I won't either, as it is important I get enough sleep. We get up between 4 and 5 am!

Edie Kalweit has been a St. Joan of Arcer for 23 years now. Now that her children are grown, there is time to participate more fully in activities taking place at St. Joan's. She very much looks forward to the AIDS ride next week! Team "OZ" will make every attempt to keep St. Joan's informed as they approach Chicago!
