Reconciliation-A Simple But Profound Truth

On Sunday, December 2nd at 4 pm, 200+ members of the SJA community gathered for an Advent Reconciliation Service with the theme Catch Your Dream. With music setting a reflective mood throughout the service, readings and prayers first centered on self-examination of our thoughts and behaviors that prevent us from loving action and more caring relationships, and thus responding to God’s everlasting loving call to dream of a better world—a world of love and understanding.

With the SJA dream catcher as the centerpiece of the service, reconciliation was recognized as a ritual to focus on sin as a hindrance to following God’s loving call to continue our journey to wholeness. Leaders of the reconciliation service called SJA parishioners forth to receive personal encouragement and a ribbon to tie to our dream catcher as a sign of our renewed heart’s desire to respond to a loving God’s dream for us.

To celebrate our renewed spirit, wine, soda and snacks were served after the service.
