Boosts of Courage:  A Scrapbook of the SJA ISAIAH Open House

Over fifty SJA parishioners participated in the SJA ISAIAH Open House on Sunday June 3.  We were joined by Congressman Keith Ellison and state representatives Jim Davnie and Frank Hornstein as well as state Senator Patricia Torres Ray.  In our dialogs with these elected officials we learned about the power of ISAIAH and collective power at the legislature during this past session.

While we acknowledged that many initiatives on education, transportation, and the Dream Act were not realized this session, both legislators and parishioners discussed the groundwork needed for movement in our state and nation toward the society we are called by the liturgy to create - rooted in hope, shared abundance, and racial and economic justice.

The open house also featured the opportunity to learn more about upcoming actions including an immediate action on immigration at the federal level, a metro-wide health care summit co-sponsored by ISAIAH and SEIU on Sept 29th, and additional information on upcoming actions to to stop the war in Iraq.

Summer is here, but ISAIAH is NOT taking a vacation!   Stay tuned for more information on upcoming ISAIAH actions.
