| Linda Tally giving blood with Zernia Everhart on duty |
The Memorial Blood Drive was held June 3rd, 2007 in the church’s Hospitality Hall. Jill Quam, a 5 year veteran, was in charge of the operations. She said that with the new computer system it takes only about an hour to set-up the blood drive.
Even though O+ and O- are the most needed and most common blood types they accept all blood types. The other blood types are A+, A-, AB+, AB-, and B+, B-. There were 45 people signed up for the blood drive. There were also some walk-up donators. Unfortunately, because the blood center staffs for the number signed up, only a limited number of walk-ups were allowed to donate. Please sign up ahead of time for our next drive and Memorial Blood Center will provide more staff. The donation only takes 40 minutes.
I ask Jill when the greatest need for blood was. Her response somehow did not surprise me. It is holidays and summertime. Most of the donations are divided into different blood components and given to different recipients. Your donation helps more than just one person. Her experiences with St Joan of Arc have always been positive and welcoming.

If you did not donate this time, Memorial Blood Center comes at least twice a year. Sign up occurs at Sunday Mass for a few weeks before the actual drive. Let’s beat the number of donors we had this time and increase our giving.
The Gift of Blood
By Theresa Dolata
To give the gift
That God has given
Blood is the blessed gift
It is in each one of us
As we receive and give
We give the limit
And eat the snacks
Never doubt for a minute
That Jesus Christ
He has led us here
To give, give, and give
Like he did on the cross
Our community has compassion
Just like Jesus taught
As our community worships together
Let us remember
Blood is the gift that gives |
