| Rose Grengs is presented her 'virtual Oscar' by webmaster Jeff Rholl |
By far the most popular section of the website is the Events in Review and Features sections that offer interesting stories of the people and events of St. Joan of Arc. The purveyors of those stories are the members of the SJA Webteam, a group of 25-100 parishioners who volunteer to write and photograph stories that are updated weekly and archived permanently by webmaster Jeff Rholl. The webteam held a potluck meeting and educational session this last Sunday night, March 5th. About 25-30 members of the group broke bread, discussed the current state of the website and heard a presentation by StarTribune reporter/editor Randy Miranda on journalism tips and tricks. Since it was Oscar night, there were even virtual Oscar trophies for Best Reporting (Rose Grengs for Lisa Kupcho, Caregiver), Best Photography (JoAnn Potts/Chris Dease for New Parishioner's Party) and Best Story (Marlys Weber for Rewinding History: The Haiti Report).
The SJA Webteam is an all-volunteer loosely run group of parishioners who enjoy being involved in parish activities and grow from their experience of reporting it. To join the SJA Webteam, simply email webmaster, Jeff Rholl at jeff@stjoan.com. Joining the webteam gets you a weekly email of upcoming parish activities. You are under no obligation to report/photograph at any time. For more information on the SJA Webteam, visit this explanation.
