Friday evening, March 11th about 40 people gathered in Hospitality Hall for pizza and socialization. Half of the group were children, mainly small children who have no difficulty making friends; running about, stopping for a minute to wolf down some pizza, and continuing their play. Three playrooms were open for their exploration. The few older children gravitated to the teen room, although several small children found a big ball in there and spent a time rolling it, jumping on it, and even once in a while playing catch, or trying to catch it.

Our resident child magician, who just returned from Circus Club Med where he learned to juggle, dazzled all with his ability of juggling three balls and making the switch to two balls in one hand when we yelled transition. His ability with only one week of practice is amazing!

The loft room buzzed with activity of all ages, while the other room hosted more quiet play with parents reading to those who enjoyed listening to stories.

Adults, on the other hand, gathered at the tables for conversation and a slower dinner. We welcomed two new families who recently returned with their new babies, one from Ethiopia and the other from Columbia. For both of these families this is a first child. Conversation mostly centered on their trips to these countries to pick up their child and the problems and joys they have had upon returning. Others with toddles and preschoolers discussed their immediate issues.

It was a relaxed, friendly evening for most, more hectic for parents with toddlers who needed to follow them around. Catching up with families we have met before and meeting new ones was a pleasant way to spend a Friday night.
