What’s more fun than sitting at home on a cold winter Friday night with your family? Going tropical dancing at St. Joan of Arc!!!

The Annual St. Joan of Arc Tropical Dance was held last Friday, March 5th and was enjoyed whole heartedly by myself, my 22 month old son Marcus and about 50 others!!! When we arrived, my son was bestowed a Hawaiian lei and there was music and balls everywhere. What more could a toddler want? But this event wasn’t just for the young ones, many a elementary-age girl and boy were there jamming to ‘Twist and Shout’ and the ‘Macarena’.

The DJ knew just what the kids needed – activities and prizes and lots of them!!! There was face painting, games, volleyball, crafts and plenty of hokey pokey and bunny hopping going on. The limbo contest was a must see!

Cristine Patlan(far right) from SJA organized the event and volunteers made yummy food; all kinds of desserts, and beverages for the hungry tropical dancers. Everyone brought food shelf donations and had a great time!

If you’ve never ventured out in the evening to a SJA child-centered event, it’s truly a wonderful experience. SJA provides me and my family loving, fun and affirming activities that fill me up both spiritually and socially.

Thank you SJA for caring about kids, caring about my family and understanding the importance of fun!!!
