This morning we left TNII and we are currently in Santiago Atitlan. Along the way, we had a picnic lunch at Iximche, the Mayan worship grounds. Some of us were surprised to see indigenous people worshiping while we were there. We are now at Chonita's place, admiring the views of Lago de Atitlan and the volcanic backdrop. Chonita just told us her story, which left most of us speechless.
Our first three days in TNII were wonderful. We are all very appreciative of our gracious host familes. So far we have visited many parts of TNII, including the health center, clinic, and school. We have met with the women's group, the Peregrino's group (Bible study), and we even had a chance to play a basketball game, featuring TNII versus Santa Juana de Arco. Some might say we let them win.
Tomorrow we will start our day at the nearby Peace Park. We were
all very excited to learn that there is a march against violence in Guatemala City on Friday in which we will be able to participate. Hopefully, we can keep you more informed of our journey in the next few days.
Peace and prayers-
