A dozen folks from SJA marched along with neighbors in the Field-Regina-Northrup Annual Parade Saturday, June 5th. Neighbors from the 4600 and 4500 blocks of 3rd Ave. S. were at the front of the parade with a decorated truck bearing royalty--King and Queen of the Block, Armand and Elaine LaChance who have lived in their home 53 years! A float decorated around the theme "These Are Our Neighbors" followed the royal couple. Next came the SJA contingent, marching with the SJA banner, wearing silly hats and masks and passing out candy and balloons along the parade route. It was the enthusiastic Block Captains Amie Rankin and Marlene Stewart(right in official garb) who pulled this together and they deserve a "Thank You."

Other neighborhoods were also represented. There were clowns, scout troops, baseball teams, floats, and a very talented Natives of the Americas Dance Troupe. The parade was along Chicago Avenue beginning at 43rd St. and ending at McRae Park where music, games and food provided great entertainment and good chances for neighbors to visit.

Amie Rankin, a resident of the Regina Neighborhood, believes strongly in balancing "community solutions" and "individual responsibility ". She is passionately committed to the exposure and the expansion of Companion Animals in our society. Employed full time with Chicago Title Insurance Company, Amie has many interests; photography is just one of them. "Heart," "Spark," "Spirit," -- whatever word we use for the mysterious force that animated us, its full potential cannot be realized in isolation. (Paul Loeb- SOUL OF A CITIZEN)
SJA’s contingent was a Small Christian Community along with a couple of fathers and kids who accepted the invitation to join our neighbors. The SJA group included Norma and Larry Schuh, Judy Miller, Bob Heberle, Pat and Marilyn Maloney, Marion and Don Hall, David Weingartner and Clare and Susan and Jack Sell Every person had a good time! Already there is talk of next year. We hope you will consider joining us as well.
