The church is decorated with the theme of the rose. In the center on the floor of the church is an alter consisting of things all related to roses (a painting, candles, small statues and free laden rose petals and vases of roses). There were twelve participants and 10 Healers. In the beginning the healers are in the front of the church holding hands in a circle and are in silent meditation.

Kate opens the circle by introducing herself and the theme of the Summer Solstice and the Rose. She spoke of the solstice being a time of all living things on earth coming into fruition and that all things, including everyone present, are arriving at their fullness in this season. Summer Solstice is the time to reflect upon the growth of the season, the seeds that were planted and the time of the first harvest.

Then the participants in the circle introduced themselves and voluntarily shared what brought them there. That followed with a meditation focused on the rose.

The healers belong to the SJA Body/Mind/Spirit Ministry group. These groups of individuals desire to bring Christ’s mandate to heal one another and bring wholeness and healing to our world.

Although the healers practice various forms of energy healing the majority of them use Reiki as a healing technique. Reiki is an ancient form of healing and is very simply performed. The practitioner places his or her hands upon the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and then the energy begins flowing. Reiki is capable of healing anything because it works at very fundamental levels of energy. At the level where Reiki functions, anything can be changed because the energy is fluid-like and is very malleable. The people participating came for various reasons and the healing seemed to encompass all facets of the body, mind and spirit.

Participants were amazed how profound the experience was. Some said they had felt transcended into God’s hands and illuminated and that the energy was natural and free flowing. As the group finished up there was an overwhelming sense of peace.
