Minnesota Alliance for PeaceMakers
Annual Meeting

The Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers(MAP) is a coalition of 43 peace and justice organizations representing thousands of individuals in Minnesota. MAP has recently formulated a position statement which is as follows:

5 Primary Concerns

  1. Recognizing that US actions contribute to injustices in other countries, MAP organizations have taken positions about situations in the following countries: Israel and Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan , Columbia , Cuba and Venezuela.
Kathryn Smith is a graduate from U of Mn in the Biological Sciences. Research in Veterinary Medicine. Teacher at Community College in Biological Sciences. Currently retired and taking the time to enjoy all that I have not had time or opportunity to do before.
  2. Recognizing that the military complex plays an excessive role in shaping the economy and policies of the US, MAP calls for major changes.
  3. Recognizing that our planet earth is home to one community of life and that an economically and socially unjust world cannot be a peaceful world, MAP calls for economic and political systems that work for the common good.
  4. Recognizing that the wide range of problems that have emerged in our independent world increases the importance of international law and cooperation, MAP calls on the US to abide by existing laws and to work for the creation of a world environment in which armed conflicts do not occur and in which the political, civil , economic , and cultural rights of all people are guaranteed.
  5. Recognizing that violence does not work and that alternatives to war are needed, MAP calls for new ways of thinking and acting to promote the United Nations Decade for a culture of peace and non-violence.
