Fall Meditation Planning Session
September 10, 2001
... Meditation Series starts September 24

I attended the SJA Meditation meeting Monday night. There were seven of us there and we had a great discussion. They are meeting again this Monday, Sept. 17, to discuss final plans. Community Meditation will begin on Monday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Church. This is community gathering is for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Our core group included some people who wanted to learn how to meditate, some who wanted to teach a variety of ways to meditate, and some who just want to meditate in a community setting.

Some ideas that emerged from our discussion Monday night were:

The structure of the Community Meditation that our core group temporarily decided on:
  1. Welcoming
  2. Movement to help people center and slow down (20 minutes initially)
  3. Meditation (20 minutes initially)
  4. Discussion, focusing primarily on process/techniques of meditation, and on insights/experience from the meditation
Mary Jo Kennedy and her husband have been attending SJA for three years. She is a Librarian and has worked for the State of Minnesota for 25 years. She has four grown children, one grandson, and another grandchild due to arrive in July. Mary Jo loves to write and appreciates the opportunity to report for the SJA Website.
If anyone is interested in joining the core group (to help plan and organize) come to the meeting this Monday this 17th. If you want to participate in the meditation, and not join the core group, join us in the Parish Church on Mondays, beginning Sept. 24 at 7:00 until about 8:30.
